The beginnings of Koepnick Photography started back in 1978 with the first photo sold to a yearbook company in Louisville. Through the years since 1978, Jim has been an award winning photojournalist at the Oshkosh Northwestern newspaper and is currently in his 24th year as Chief Photographer at EAA in Oshkosh. Jim is considered to be one of the premier aviation photographers in the world. He is responsible for much of EAA's air-to-air photography for its publications, including Sport Aviation magazine and the World of Flight Calendar. He is also responsible for directing photographic coverage of EAA AirVenture -Oshkosh.
    
     Koepnick Photography is not limited, however, to only subjects that fly. Jim is highly recognized for his creative freelance photography, which includes Weddings, Events, Commercial photography including merchandise and food, Automobiles, Sports, Underwater and Travel. He consistently delivers dynamic breathtaking images that capture a moment in time creating memories that will be treasured for many years to come.

     In addition to 24 years of experience at EAA, which includes portrait and studio work, events, editorial as well as aerial work, Jim has had 23 years serving Ripon College for event functions.
 
     Koepnick’s artistry, skill and experience have resulted in award-winning images that have been printed in magazines such as Life, Time, Flying, Men's Journal, People, Wisconsin Trails and Popular Mechanics. He is a member of National Press Photographers Association, Wisconsin Imaging Photographers Association, National Association of Photoshop Professionals and the International Society of Aviation Photographers.  


     His photography has has been a consistent winner of awards from Aviation Week and Space Technology, Wisconsin Imaging Photographers Association, American Advertising Federation and Calendar Marketing Association in recent years. His photojournalism has received awards from Wisconsin Newspaper Association, Wisconsin Press Photographers Association and Inland Press.
 
     Koepnick’s "Hands of Time" photograph of the Omro, Wisconsin clock tower appeared in the Oshkosh Northwestern Newspaper in 1980 and gained national exposure when it was picked up by the Associated Press the following day and distributed as a reminder of the change from daylight savings time. Afterwards, it was requested by Life magazine to be used as their back page feature "Just One More". The photograph was also showcased in the book Life Classic Photographs, A Personal Interpretation by John Loengard.

     In addition to his astonishing photography, Koepnick applies his creative and artistic talent to graphic design and website development. He has developed websites, trade show banners/graphics and advertisements for personal, business and non-profit organizations. His graphic design has won first place awards from the American Advertising Federation.
